The celebrations were marked with traditional martial arts such as Silambam, Kathi Sandai, Adi Murai, Kuthu Varisai, Valli Kummi performed by students, while women employees of the institution were honoured with a special gift at the event.
Coimbatore: The Women Empowerment Club of Karpagam Institute of Technology (KIT) conducted 'Yuvaika’23' as part of Women’s Day celebrations on Wednesday.
KIT's Principal Dr. P Manimaran, Vice-Principal Dr. D Bhanu and Dean - Academics Dr.V J Arul Karthick presided over the event. Faculty members and students of Karpagam Institute of Technology were present at the event which kick-started with a bike rally of girl students.
The students also performed traditional martial arts such as Silambam, Kathi Sandai, Adi Murai, Kuthu Varisai, Valli Kummi which are traditional events of our state. A fashion parade, dances, singing and various other events were also organized.
Women faculty members expressed their views on women’s mental and physical health, and the confidence that needs to be built within themselves. Women employees of the institution were honoured with a special gift at the event. Various fun events were organized for the women faculty members and students.
Women who courageously fought for their rights in the nineteenth century were remembered and their contribution ackowledged. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks.
