Udumalai students embark on a scientific field trip to Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Centre

More than 150 students from Udumalpet, who participated in the science talent competition organized by the Galileo Institute of Science, Udumalpet, have gone on a field trip to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. They have been praised by various quarters.


Udumalai: Students from Udumalpet have gone on a scientific field trip to vikram sarabhai space research centre in Thiruvananthapuram.

International Space Week was celebrated in October last year on behalf of the Galileo Institute of Science, Udumalpet.

Subsequently, on the occasion of National Science Day, science exhibitions and science talent competitions were held for school children.



On February 25, around 150 students, including those who had participated and won, were taken on a scientific field trip to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Centre, the Thumba rocket launch pad in Thiruvananthapuram.

In this situation, the vice-president of Udumalai Tamilisai Sangam, Vanchimuthu, congratulated the students who had gone on a field trip and sent them off.

Students of Udumalai Ragalpavi Panchayat Union Primary School also participated in this field trip.



On March 15, the students took a keen look at the Thumba rocket launch station and the Heritage Museum.

Moreover, the scientists explained various questions of the students. A short film on the history of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was screened for the students there.



Subsequently, at the 3d Planetarium located at the Kerala State Museum of Science and Technology, students enjoyed watching a short film on the history of the solar system.

"Each of us was very surprised and amazing as we were travelling by train for the first time, coming to the planetarium and the Indian Space Research Organisation for the first time.

We have come to know how many achievements our Indian scientists have made. Field trips like these will be very useful for us to become scientists."

Rajasekhar and Sasikumar, senior scientists working at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Centre, personally came and congratulated the students.

Udumalai Environmental Association president Mani said that rural students have also participated in the science field trip. They are very happy to be visiting such places for the first time, he said.

Udumalai Environmental Society Secretary Nagarajan, Administrator Sasikumar, Galileo Institute of Science office-bearers Sathish Kumar, Harini, Madhusree, Rajeshwari and others were present on the occasion. The coordinator of the Galileo Institute of Science, Kannabiran coordinated.
