Applications invited for grant to ‘Holy Pilgrimage' to Jerusalem

Coimbatore : Applications are invited from the minority Christians who wish to undertake the holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem to avail the financial assistance of Rs.20, 000 which is being extended by the Tamilnadu Government.


Coimbatore : Applications are invited from the minority Christians who wish to undertake the holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem to avail the financial assistance of Rs.20, 000 which is being extended by the Tamilnadu Government.

The last date for the submission of application is September 30.

According to the press communique, the scheme would include 600 Christians with the inclusion of 50 nuns and priests as mandatory beneficiaries. The holy pilgrimage will include visiting countries like Israel, Egypt and Jordan, as well as visiting places like Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Jordan River, Sea of Galilee and all other holy places that Christians would desire to visit.

 The Holy Land trip can be scheduled between September 2019 and March 2020, for a period of about 10 days.

Applications for funding of the holy pilgrimage can be obtained free of cost from the Backward Class/Minority Department in the District Collectorate premises. It can also be downloaded from www.bcmbcmw.tn.gov.in

The duly filled applications with the necessary documents should be addressed to “ Christians Pilgrimage to Jerusalem”, Commissioner, Backward Class / Minority Welfare Department, Kalasamahal Heritage Building, First floor, Chepauk, Chennai – 600 005 before September 30.

Visiting in person to hand over the applications is not required.
