Indian Railways hikes fare from January 1, 2020

Coimbatore: Department of Railways in a statement has announced that fare hike will be implemented in various categories of the services provided by Indian Railways effective from January, 1, 2020.

Coimbatore: Department of Railways in a statement has announced that fare hike will be implemented in various categories of the services provided by Indian Railways effective from January, 1, 2020.

Suburban fares will remain unchanged, however ordinary non-AC, non-suburban fares are hiked by 1 paise per km of journey. And, a two paise/km hike in fares of mail/express non-AC trains and four paise/km hike in the fares of AC classes.

In order to expand passenger amenities and facilities at railway station across India, the railways has stated that it has become imperative to increase the fare without over burdening any class of passengers.

As per the order, there will no hike in reservation fee and superfast charge and the hike in fares will not be applicable to tickets already booked.
