Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani has expressed his appreciation for the smooth conduct of the recently held local body polls (rural) and congratulated the elected representatives who will take charge on Jan 6, 2020.
Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani has expressed his appreciation for the smooth conduct of the recently held local body polls (rural) and congratulated the elected representatives who will take charge on Jan 6, 2020.
"The local body elections for rural areas were conducted in two phases on December 27-30, 2019 and the results were announced on January 2, 2020. The tireless work by the Election Officers and Police department helped to conduct the elections in a fair and smooth way. Appreciations needs to be extended to the voters who cooperated with the officials to conclude the elections in a peaceful manner", said the Collector in a press release.
He further congratulated the recently elected representatives from the rural areas -17 District Panchayat members, 155 Panchayat union committee members, 228 Panchayat Presidents, 2034 Panchayat Ward members, a total of 2434 members for their victory.
"Indirect elections will be held at the District Collectors office for the District Panchayat President and Vice President, Panchayat Union Offices for the Panchayat Union Committee Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Panchayat Union offices for the Deputy Chairperson of Panchayat on Jan 11, 2020", he added in the release.
