Badagas Hethai Festival: District Collector announce public holiday on Jan 8

The Nilgiris: The famous annual Hethai Amman Temple Festival celebrated by Badaga community (the largest indigenous social group in the Nilgiris) is all set to be celebrated in a grand manner on January 8 in several villages.


The Nilgiris: The famous annual Hethai Amman Temple Festival celebrated by Badaga community (the largest indigenous social group in the Nilgiris) is all set to be celebrated in a grand manner on January 8 in several villages.



To honor the celebrations, the district administration of The Nilgiris has declared local holiday to all state government offices and educational institutions in the Nilgiris district on January 8. Since this local holiday is not covered by the central laws, the Treasury and dependent departments in the district will work and only specific personnel belonging to Badaga community will be granted leave, confirmed a release. 

The release further noted that to compensate this holiday, February 1 (Saturday) will be a working day. Government offices and schools will function on that day.
