Coimbatore bomb blasts anniversary: City traffic Police announce traffic diversions, tomorrow

Coimbatore: To pay homage to the victims of the serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore on February 14, 1998, several Hindu outfits led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a procession tomorrow.


Coimbatore: To pay homage to the victims of the serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore on February 14, 1998, several Hindu outfits led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a procession tomorrow. 

The procession will commence at 2 PM from near the second entrance gate of Avinashilingam College and will go through Mettupalayam road then to Kamarajapuram Road and then turn left towards East TV Samy Road, heading to the Head Post Office, where the procession will conclude at 6 PM. Members of the participating organisations will pay floral tribute to the 58 people who lost their lives.

Owing to the rally, the city traffic police department has announced traffic diversions in and around RS Puram area on Friday, February 14 between 2 PM to 6 PM.

1. Vehicles travelling towards Mettupalayam Road (MTP Road) from Cross Cut road and 100 feet road, via the Vadakovai bridge are directed to take a turn at the Shobika corner and continue via Power house and Sivananda Colony. 

2. Vehicles enroute towards MTP road via Poo Market and Brookebond road should continue straight on the Avinashi road bridge towards Mill road and keep travelling through Sukrawarpet, Gandhipark and Thadagam road.

3. Vehicles from Saibaba Colony travelling to Gandhipuram should take a left turn at the NSR-MTP road junction and continue through the ARC junction and Sivananda Colony.

4. Vehicles from MTP road travelling to Gandhipuram and Ukkadam via Ganga Hospital route should turn left at the ARC junction and continue through Sivananda Colony. 

The city police department has requested the public to cooperate for the temporary traffic diversion.
