COVID-19: Pilgrimage to Poondi Velliangiri hills stopped

Coimbatore: In a joint announcement by the District Forest department and The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, pilgrimage to the famous Velliangiri hills has been stopped from tomorrow.


Coimbatore: In a joint announcement by the District Forest department and The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, pilgrimage to the famous Velliangiri hills has been stopped from tomorrow. 



As a preventive measure against COVID-19 threat, the decision has been arrived. As thousands of people go on a pilgrimage to the hills between February to May, the possibilities of contracting infections are high. 



Hence, trekking and pilgrimage has been banned till March 31, a release informed.
