Section 144 imposed in Tamilnadu from tomorrow 6pm

Coimbatore: Amid Coronavirus pandemic, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) across the State to prohibit large gatherings in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.


Coimbatore: Amid Coronavirus pandemic, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) across the State to prohibit large gatherings in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The section 144 will come into effect from March 24, Tuesday from 6 PM till March 31. 

All District Collectors are advised to pass necessary orders in their district and ensure proper implementation of 144. 

On Sunday, the State government has also issued an order banning inter-state transport, except for the supply of essential commodities. 

However, milk, medical, vegetable and meat supply will remain functional. All state transport, private transport, autos, taxis will not be functional.

All vehicles that enter the State will be allowed only after passengers are thoroughly screened.
