Strict action if bars open in Coimbatore after 10 pm tonight- District Collector warns


Coimbatore: District Collector warns that strict action will be taken if bars open in Coimbatore after 10 pm tonight. Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani said the New Year celebrations were not allowed in the district and a monitoring committee had been set up to identify and take action against hotels violating the rules.

Collector Rajamani said, "Coronavirus infection is currently under control in Coimbatore district. And in some European countries this highly malignant coronavirus is spreading and therefore, there is a need to intensify coronavirus infection prevention activities in the city. Therefore, according to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department Government, restaurants, hostels, entertainment venues and hotels in the Coimbatore district will not be allowed to hold New Year celebrations tomorrow."

He said, "Strict action will be taken if New Year celebrations are held in violation of this. Similarly New Year celebration is not allowed on the roads and streets. A monitoring committee comprising sub-collectors, tahsildars and civil servants has been set up at each taluk to monitor the proper compliance of these regulations by the government. Strict action will be taken if bars and pubs remain open after 10 pm tonight."
