District Collector orders to close liquor stores for 3 days in Coimbatore

This is to observe Mahavir Jayanthi, May Day and the votes counting day


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector has ordered the Tasmac and bars to be closed for three days: Mahavir Jayanti, May Day and May 2, the counting day.

Coimbatore Collector Nagarajan said that on both the days of Mahavir Jayanti, which is on April 25 and May 1, all Tasmac liquor stores, pubs and bars operating in star hotels should be closed. The order states that action will be taken against those who sell liquor, shops and bars on these specific dates, contrary to the rules.

Similarly, liquor stores and bars are set to remain closed on May 2 due to the counting of votes of Assembly elections that took place on April 6.
