Coimbatore City Police stipulates 30 kmph as speed limit for vehicles within city limits and 40 kmph on roads in the border areas of Coimbatore as per the order of the Coimbatore District Collector.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police has set a speed limit for vehicles within the limits of the Coimbatore district administration.

The speed limit has been fixed as per the order of the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran. Accordingly, it has been decided that vehicles can be driven at a speed of 30 kmph on the following roads:

(1) From Gandhipuram to Ganapathy

(2) 100 ft. Road

(3) Crosscut Road

(4) Bharathiyar Road

(5) From Sukrawarpet to the flyover

(6) From Vaisiyal Road to Selvapuram

Permission has been granted to allow vehicles to be driven at a speed of 40 kmph on roads in the border areas of Coimbatore. The Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, Deepak M Damor has directed the City Traffic Police to implement the above speed limits to reduce the number of accidents within the Coimbatore city area.

According to the Coimbatore City Police, motorists violating the speed limit will be prosecuted under the Motor Vehicle Act. Therefore, the Coimbatore City Police has requested motorists and the general public to adhere to the stipulated new speed limits.
