TN Govt. announces day after Diwali (Nov 5) as public holiday

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order declaring Nov. 5 as public holiday in compliance to the requests of Govt. employees and teachers' unions.



Coimbatore: The Government of Tamil Nadu has declared a public holiday for Government employees on Friday, November 5, the day after Diwali.

The Government had received requests from many quarters to declare a holiday on November 5 for all Government offices, schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu to allow employees to visit their hometowns to celebrate Diwali on November 4.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has just issued an order accepting the request of the Government employees and teachers' unions and announced that November 5 would be a public holiday for districts in Tamil Nadu. In view of this much welcome announcement, TN Government employees will now get four consecutive days off.

November 20th (Third Saturday) has been declared a working day to compensate for the holiday declared for the day after Diwali.
