Great potential Tragedy averted : Fire breaks out in Empty gas tanker near Tirupur

On the pazhankarai bypass route near Avinashi in the Tirupur district, a large fire broke out in an empty petrol tanker truck that was parked. The truck's front section was completely destroyed by the fire.

Tirupur: After emptying the gas at the Indane gas storage godown at Kattampatti near Pollachi in the Coimbatore district, a tanker truck was on its way to Chennai with no cargo.

The truck's driver was Ravi (38)Pallipalayam native , who lives in Erode.

When the trucks halted on the Palangarai Bypass Road adjacent to Avinashi in Tirupur District and stopped the truck for rest at the resting site, the driver, Ravi, saw a fire on the left side of the driver's seat and attempted to put it out by pouring water on it.

Driver Ravi leaped out of the vehicle and ran away as the flames quickly spread.

Avinashi and Tirupur North fire departments sent about 20 firefighters, who arrived at the scene in two trucks, to battle the fire for approximately an hour. The front part of the truck was entirely burned out and damaged in the collision.

As there were no petrol cylinders in the truck, no undesirable incident was prevented. The fire is being looked into by Avinashi police, who have filed a case.
