Coimbatore district preps surge in COVID cases with mock drills: Collector inspection at Medical college hospital

This simulated drill was part of a series of drills held in all government and private hospitals to ensure that health care staff are ready for any situation that may arise.



Coimbatore: Mock drills were held in all government and private hospitals on April 10th, ahead of the increase in Covid cases across the country.

Coimbatore District Collector KranthiKumar Pati I.A.S. examined the Mock Drill at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital in this regard.



The mock drill included key components such as pharmaceutical storage, bed capacity, oxygen supplies, and other preparedness.



Speaking to the media further, the district collector stated, "The district administration is prepared even before the surge.

"We conducted this covid Mock Drill in response to a significant spike in cases in several locations, as directed by the state health ministry. This will be continued on the 11th."

He stated that masks were mandated in all medical facilities during the initial phase of precaution, but that with further direction from the centre or state, it will be mandated in public areas.

Meanwhile, wearing masks in public areas and adhering to other covid measures is advised.



As many as 300 beds are prepared, with enough vaccinations, including both doses and the booster, on hand.

It was indicated that booster doses are recommended in emergency situations.Coimbatore has the second highest number of covid infections in the state and has recently recorded three covid deaths.
