Give Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the five drowned in Theerthavari Kulam in Nanganallur - Dr. Krishnasamy

Puthiya Tamizhagam party president Dr Krishnasamy has urged the Tamil Nadu government to provide Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the priests who drowned in a pond during the Theerthavari event at Nanganallur in Chennai.



Puthiya Tamizhagam party president Dr Krishnasamy has condoled the loss of lives to the families of five young priests who drowned in a pond during theerthavari ceremony at Nanganallur Dharmalingeswarar temple in Chennai.

In a statement issued in this regard, he said,

It is a matter of great concern that in the recent past, there have been frequent accidents and deaths during temple events, including chariot races. It is necessary for the Government of Tamil Nadu to lay down norms so that such accidents do not take place in future, be it big or small temple festivals.

"I request the Government of Tamil Nadu to provide Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the five priests who died during the Theerthavari ceremony at Nanganallur Dharmalingeswarar Temple.
