Shouting for change: Protest in Coimbatore over proper medical waste disposal

The Para Medical Lab Education and Welfare Association organised a protest in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar's office, requesting a reduce in the cost of medical waste collection and a reduction in the cost of medical waste collection by the corporation administration itself.


Coimbatore: The Para Medical Lab Education and Welfare Association protested in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar's office, demanding two demands regarding medical waste disposal.



It was also urged that the corporation administration collect medical waste at a low cost and reduce the monthly fee charged by the private sector for the collection of medical waste to small and medium laboratories in Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tirupur, and Udumalpet from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,800 to Rs 750.



The protest was led by Kalidasan, the all-India president of the Para Medical Lab Education and Welfare Association, and was supported by general secretary Ravindranath and district president Sivakumar. More than 50 individuals joined the protest and raised slogans in support of the two-point charter of demands.

They will also send A memorandum to the District Collector, Chief Minister's Special Cell, Health Minister, and Coimbatore North and South Pollution Control Board.
