Honoring Women at the forefront of Animal Rescue: EIACP, Ministry of Environment and Forest, RP Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham(AVV) and Nature club of AVV felicitate heroes!

On a special session , nine individuals from different walks of life were recognised with the Animal Rescue warrior award.Ranging from Corporate sector employees, NGO workers, retired professors, house wives, house keepers and domestic helpers, the awardees were all unique in the way they worked to help animals in need.


Coimbatore: The EIACP, Ministry of Environment and Forest, RP Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (AVV), and the AVV Nature Club organised an award ceremony to recognise and honour women who have been at the forefront of animal rescue. Animal Rescue Warrior Award is the name of the award.



Nine awardees were identified and honoured from all walks of life, ranging from corporate sector, non-governmental organisations, retired professors, housewives, and housekeeping and domestic staff. Prof. C. Parameswaran, Amrita University's Principal Director of Corporate Industrial Relations, was the chief guest.



He emphasised the need for a safe environment for animals to coexist with nature. This award is unique in that it recognises women who fight for animal welfare.



Dr. Maya Mahajan, coordinator of the Ministry of Environment's EIACP Centre and Amrita University, coordinated the program.



Dr Maya Mahajan stated that it is important to recognise the enormous efforts made by these women in Animal Rescue despite all difficulties and to raise awareness about the importance of each life.



The event was followed by a showing of the award-winning film Elephant Whisperers. Dr. Sankaran, Registrar of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, attended the event.



More than 300 students and citizens attended the award ceremony and applauded the achievements of these female warriers.
