Fire breaks out at furniture shop in Coimbatore, goods worth lakhs of rupees gutted in fire

A massive fire broke out at a private furniture shop in Ramnagar, Coimbatore, destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees. According to fire officials, the fire could have been started by an electrical leakage.



Coimbatore: A privately owned furniture manufacturing godown on Patel Road in Ramnagar, Coimbatore.

The employees of the furniture godown completed the work at 7 p.m. last night and locked the godown.

The godown began to emit black smoke at 9 p.m. last night. After a while, the godown caught fire.

When the neighbours saw this, they called the Coimbatore south and north fire stations. Following this, a team of fire brigade members led by Coimbatore South and North fire station officers Sivaraj and Dhanasekara Pandian rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire.

After an hour's struggle, the fire in the godown was completely extinguished. Fire department officials said the fire could have been caused due to an electrical leakage.

Lakhs of goods were destroyed in the fire. The police have opened an investigation into the fire accident.
