Hindu Munnani Activists Take Over Idigarai Town Panchayat Office in Protest of Vinayagar Temple Removal

The town panchayat administration had instructed to remove the idol of Lord Vinayaka placed in a public place on behalf of the public in Vetri Vela Nagar area next to Idigarai. As the statue had not been removed, the hindu munnani activists gathered at the town panchayat office after the authorities removed the statue.

Coimbatore: Hindu Munnani activists gathered at the town panchayat office in Coimbatore to protest against the removal of the newly built Vinayaka temple in Idigarai town panchayat.

A large number of families reside in the Vetri Vela Nagar and Raghavendra Garden regions of Coimbatore's Idigarai town panchayat. A Vinayaka temple was built on behalf of the people of the area on the reserve sites in these areas to allow the public to worship there.

However, the residents of Vetri Vela Nagar have placed an idol of Lord Ganesha in a public place. The consecration of this Vinayaka temple was also held a few months ago. The town panchayat administration had instructed them to remove the Idol of Lord Ganesha from a public place.

But since the statue had not been removed, it is said that the town panchayat authorities went to the spot on Tuesday and demolished the temple and took the idol of Lord Vinayaka to the town panchayat office.

On receiving information, the Hindu Munnani and the people of the area gathered at the town panchayat office.

Following this, DSP Namasivayam of Periyanaickenpalayam, Inspector Damodaran, Town Panchayat President Genardhanan, and Executive Officer Vijayakumar met with the besieged public.

The general public stated that they will place a Vinayaka idol in a place mentioned by the town panchayat authorities.

Then all the besieged dispersed. The public also rescued Vinayaka from the office.

On their way back, the women of the area saw the Idol of Lord Ganesha and worshipped with reverence.
