Indo-German delegation found out about Saxony as a business location

Saxony is a strong innovation region, where the successful cooperation between science and business consistently yields positive results. This vibrant region attracts young start-ups, such as Senorics, and international companies in the chip and automotive industry as well as IT, offering excellent employment opportunities for international specialists.

An Indian business and science delegation visited the Free State of Saxony on May 11th and 12th. The delegation trip was organised and accompanied by Michaela Küchler, the German Consul General in Chennai. Martin Dulig, the Saxon Vice Prime Minister for Economics and Labour, welcomed the Indian guests in Dresden.

India is considered an important country for recruiting skilled workers. The Indian population is young and well educated - especially in the areas of engineering, technology and computer science/IT that are relevant for Saxony.support Dresden technology companies in recruiting Indian tech specialists.

Saxony is a strong innovation region. The good cooperation between science and business pays off here. Young start-ups such as Senorics and international companies in the chip and automotive industry as well as IT offer excellent employment opportunities for international specialists.

During the visit, the delegation from the leading precision machine tools and automation solutions from theMikromat GmbH (Dresden)as well as the extremely compact and versatile material-sensing solutions of the Sensorics GmbH (Dresden)met. The programme continued to include positions at Volkswagen's Transparent Factory in Dresden, the Energy GmbH (Hartha), the Lightweight Research Centre »MERGE« at Chemnitz University of Technology, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) in Chemnitz. There, participants learned about Saxony's transition to electromobility, innovative temperature control systems for injection molding machines, and the present level of research in the fields of lightweight construction and 3D printing.

Another point of emphasis was the exchange of information between the delegation and the Dresden language school TUDIAS GmbH, as well as the Educational Centre of the Saxon Economy (BSW) and the Centre for securing skilled workers and good work (ZEFAS) on potential collaboration in the field of training and securing skilled workers.

This topic was also important to Saxony's Minister of Economics and Labour, Martin Dulig, who received the delegation at Senorics GmbH and was interviewed by Dr. S. Chandrasekar (Head of GIRT Coimbatore) on the activities of the GIRT Coimbatore and the participants from India and their cooperation interests.

The visit was an important step in strengthening connections and cooperation between Saxony and the Indian state of Tamil Nadu - Coimbatore is a major industrial location there - in the areas of business, technology, and education. The contacts created provide the possibility of new cooperation and business opportunities.

Martin Dulig continues: Specialists and workers are the 'engine of the economy'. Additional efforts are required to ensure that this engine does not stutter in Saxony. In order to retain and recruit skilled workers in Saxony, good wages and good working conditions in companies remain key.

On the one hand, we have to make better use of domestic potential, above all through massively strengthened training and further education. On the other hand, we need qualified immigration from abroad. More and more Saxon companies are reflecting this to us.

The recently adopted Pact to attract international skilled workers shows that everyone is aware of this responsibility. Only by working together will we be able to successfully use the opportunities offered by qualified immigration for Saxony. In the near future we will focus our efforts particularly on India, Vietnam, Central Asia, Brazil and Egypt.
