The flyover was built as a four-lane lane at a cost of around Rs 41.83 crore over a distance of 658 metres.

The work on the flyover was halted and then resumed due to the severe spread of coronavirus. Currently, over 99 percent of the flyover work has been completed. People living in the area are relieved that the KCP Infra-run flyover will be completed and open to traffic. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened the flyover for trail run around 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

At present, vehicles are moving on the flyover. Since there is still a trial run of 2-3 days, one can climb the flyover from morning till evening.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials said that the flyover route will not be temporarily available at night as the flyover electric poles, centre median work, and paint work is done at night.

The flyover is designed to relieve congestion and traffic congestion on the road. Vehicles are travelling through this road from the Ganapathy and Saravanampatti areas. Moreover, there was always a traffic jam as it was possible to cross the Mettupalayam road i.e. the G N Mills Bridge from Kanuvai-Anaikatti road to Sathy Road.

The Coimbatore District Roads Safety Association said that with the completion of the flyover work, it will now be easier to reach Thudiyalur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, Mettupalayam, Sirumugai, Ooty, Kotagiri and Coonoor from Coimbatore.
