'As far as this regime is concerned, there is nothing to congratulate since all the people have been cheated:' Former Minister, S P Velumani at state-level basketball tournament in Coimbatore

S P Velumani inaugurated the tournament and also met sportspersons and congratulated them.

Coimbatore: Bharat Sports Club, Small Body Foundation and Martin Group have organized a state-level basketball tournament and wheelchair basketball tournament for the differently-abled at the stadium near Nehru Indoor Stadium in Coimbatore from June 29 till July 2.

Former Minister S P Velumani inaugurated the tournament and also met sportspersons and congratulated them. Coimbatore North MLA Amman Arjunan and others were present on the occasion.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Minister S P Velumani said, "For the first time in India, a state-level basketball competition, including a wheelchair competition, is being organised by The Bharat Sports Club and the Chituli Foundation in Coimbatore district. Former Chief Ministers J Jayalalithaa and Edappadi K Palaniswami have brought about various developments in Coimbatore district which had not been there for 50 years. Funds were allocated for the renovation of the Nehru Stadium and all the lights were replaced and renovated.

Similarly, funds have also been allocated for the construction of an indoor stadium, but now they are going to stop it and set up a classical language park. As far as sports is concerned, more funds were allocated during the AIADMK regime and sportspersons were encouraged. But as far as this regime is concerned, there is nothing to congratulate and there is no possibility of it. No proposal has come up and not a single road has been laid for the last two years."

"The third combined drinking water project brought in by the AIADMK regime has not been completed. The construction of a dam on the Siruvani river has also not been stopped. At present, family rule is going on in Tamil Nadu. The entire people of Tamil Nadu say that if Edappadi K Palanisamy becomes the Chief Minister, there will be breaking of dawn. That is the day we are looking forward to.

In Tamil Nadu, apart from indoor stadiums, Corporation parks, Amma parks, etc., are not maintained. I could not even ask the officials about it, nor could Councillors or Ministers. The public has been severely affected by the increase in the prices of construction materials and the increase in electricity tariff and they have cheated the public by not taking up any projects in Tamil Nadu," slammed former Minister S P Velumani.
