Coimbatore Range DIG Vijayakumar commits suicide by shooting himself in a Tragic Haste

Coimbatore Range DIG Vijayakumar committed suicide by shooting himself at his camp office. His body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and officials are looking investigating the cause of his suicide.



Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, Coimbatore Range DIG Vijayakumar committed suicide by shooting himself at his camp office.

Muthusamy, who was serving as DIG of the Coimbatore range, was transferred, and Vijayakumar took over as DIG of the Coimbatore range in January of this year.

Vijayakumar, from Theni district, cleared the Group One exam and started his career as a DSP. Subsequently, he became an engineering graduate andtook the IPS exam in Tamil, cleared it, and joined the police force as an IPS officer in 2009.

He started his career as an ASP in Valliyur, Tirunelveli district, and afterwards served as a district SP in Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvarur.

Vijayakumar, who was also the CB-CID's SP at the time, was the first officer to investigate the Sathankulam double murder case.

Vijayakumar, who was in charge of four districts in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, and the Nilgiris, has been busy with various works since taking over the Coimbatore range.He is also said to be kind to the public and police who come to file complaints.

DIG Vijayakumar was reportedly stressed out over the last two days. He committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun at his camp office early this morning.

He attended the birthday celebration of e Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner's Sonlast night,and was returning home, he allegedly brought his gun from his gun man and kept it.



The body of Coimbatore Range DIG Vijayakumar, who shot himself to death, has been sent to the government hospital in Coimbatore for postmortem.



The Race Road police have registered a case in connection with the incident.An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the suicide. In a sad event, a top IPS officer committed suicide in Coimbatore by shooting himself with a gun.
