A lone tusker entered the premises of Bharathiar University near Vadavalli in Coimbatore in the wee hours on Saturday.


Coimbatore: A lone tusker entered the premises of Bharathiar University near Vadavalli in Coimbatore in the wee hours on Saturday. On receiving the information, the forest department chased the wild elephant into the forest.

There are more than 50 wild elephants in the Western Ghats in Coimbatore. From time to time, they used to come to the foothills of the hills like Maruthamalai, Vadavalli and Kalveerampalayam in search of food.



In this situation, a lone tusker came to Vadavalli and Kalveerampalayam areas Friday night. On receiving information about this, the forest department swung into action to chase away the wild elephant.



The wild elephant entered the bharathiar university campus near Vadavalli in the wee hours Saturday.



Following this, the forest department chased the elephant into the forest.
