Minister Senthil Balaji's ED custody extended till August 28, 2023; to be presented to court in person on 28th

Minister Senthil Balaji, who has been arrested in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act case, Justice Alli had ordered that the case would be heard by the special court. Minister Senthil Balaji was produced before special court judge Sivakumar through video conferencing from Puzhal jail after his judicial custody ended today.


Justice Sivakumar directed the jail authorities to produce Senthil Balaji, whose custody has been extended till August 28.

Minister Senthil Balaji was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 14 in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act case. After the Supreme Court said that his arrest was justified, the ED remanded him in custody for five days.

He was produced before the Principal Sessions Court in Chennai on August 12 and remanded to judicial custody till August 25. On the same day, the ED filed more than 120 pages of charge sheet and 3,000 pages of documents against Senthil Balaji.

Justice Alli had ordered that the case against Senthil Balaji would be heard by a special court. Minister Senthil Balaji was produced before special court judge Sivakumar through video conferencing from Puzhal jail after his judicial custody ended today. Following this, the judge remanded Senthil Balaji to judicial custody till August 28. He directed the jail authorities to produce him in person in court on the same day.
