' 'Operation Reboot' to stop young criminals; 173 children re-enrolled in a year:' Coimbatore Police Commissioner, V Balakrishnan

The Coimbatore City Police's initiative 'Operation Reboot' has helped as many as 173 school dropout students to be readmitted to schools. Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan held discussions with these students and their parents in this regard.



Coimbatore: Owing to the Coimbatore City Police's initiative 'Operation Reboot,' action has been taken to re-admit 173 school dropout students.



A meeting with the parents of the students who were readmitted to the school was held at the office of the City Police Commissioner.



Over 100 students, parents and police personnel were present at the meeting to interact with one another on the unique initiative.

Speaking to reporters later, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said,



"In order to prevent juvenile delinquents, a scheme was introduced to re-educate school dropout children through operation repute. The policemen working through the Police Akka scheme have identified and spoken to the dropout children. Later, 173 children in Coimbatore city were re-enrolled in schools."

"20 children are from outside the State and we are talking to another 30 children. I thank the Education Department officials and police for their support. The event has been organised to encourage students to continue attending school. We plan to continue monitoring children who are dropouts and also highlight future opportunities to them to make them study. I am planning to hold a meeting of the dropouts once in three months," detailed Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, V Balakrishnan.

He also mentioned that three special squads have been formed to track down three consecutive incidents of dacoity in the city. "We are in touch with the squads regularly," added the Police Commissioner.
