Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at The Cluster Studio Auditorium in Coimbatore, the director of the documentary 'Sculptures of sculptors', who was selected for the 69th National Award, insisted on incentives for documentaries and short films.

Coimbatore: Director Lenin has demanded incentives for documentaries and short films.

Recently, the 69th National Film Awards were announced for the films released in the year 2021. The documentary film "Sculptures of sculptors" directed by noted editor-director P Lenin has been selected as the best educational film.

On the occasion of Teachers' Day, a felicitation ceremony was held at The Cluster Studio Auditorium in Coimbatore to felicitate Lenin, who created a documentary on the sculptures of sculptors created in honour of the teachers who teach education and teaching it.

It was attended by writers, painters and academicians. Following this, director P Lenin spoke to reporters. Then he said,

When someone we knew asked me to make a documentary on a teacher who taught well during my childhood and became a good person, I took it up. But there will be a teacher in everyone's life, not confined to one teacher.

I met them all in person and made this documentary film 'Sculptures of sculptors' as a document. The Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai was earlier known as The Preschool Arangam and it had free children's programmes.

He also demanded that the Tamil Nadu government should come forward to screen films for children.

In particular, most of the short films in India are made in Tamil Nadu. He appealed to the Government of Tamil Nadu to come forward to give small incentives to the creators of documentaries and short films. They should also come forward to provide subsidy for the production of children's individual films written by the children themselves. This is what he insisted.
