Forest officials push 3 elephants roaming near suburbs of Coimbatore into the forest

Three wild elephants were chased into forest area in Nanjundapuram area near Pannimadai near Coimbatore by the forest department at around 6 am this morning.



Coimbatore: The public have urged the forest department to take steps to prevent wild elephants from entering the village in search of food from the forest areas.

There are more than 50 wild elephants in the Anaikatti hills of Coimbatore. From time to time, they come to plantations and settlements in the foothills of the hills like Mangarai, Thadagam, Veerapandi, Nanjundapuram, Pannimadai and other areas in search of food. Similarly, at around 6 am today, two wild elephants with a cub were found roaming in a residential area in Nanjundapuram area near Pannimadai in search of food.



The people present took the video on their mobile phones and shared it on social media. It is currently going viral. At the same time, the people of the area have demanded that the forest department should take steps to prevent wild elephants from entering the village. On receiving information about this, the forest department chased the wild elephants back into the forest.
