Award of CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researcher to research in TNAU

Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Research Scientist & Maize Breeder, Field Crops Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center, Egypt awarded CV Raman International Fellowship for the year 2023-24 to do research in Biotechnology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India (GoI), through the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) had launched the CV Raman Fellowship for African Researchers programme under the India-Africa Forum Summit to promote human capacity building through scientific and technological cooperation between Africa and India.

This prestigious fellowship is aimed to further strengthen the bond between India and African nations in the fields of science and technology.

It provide opportunities for African researcher to conduct research under the guidance of a host scientist in India in order to advance their own research capabilities while fostering scientific and technological cooperation between Africa and India. Egypt scientists awarded seven fellowships from CV Raman this year. Among the seven scientists only two scientists were given with this award in Agriculture Sciences.

Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Research Scientist & Maize Breeder, Field Crops Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center, Egypt awarded CV Raman International Fellowship for the year 2023-24 to do research in Biotechnology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore under the guidance of Prof.Dr.N.Senthil, Dean (SPGS) & Director (CPMB&B), TNAU, Coimbatore. He is about to work on Maize Molecular Breeding. This CV Raman International Fellowship will strengthen the association between both the Institutes.

Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU honored the awardee and appreciated the scientist involved in availing this CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researcher and insisted much more steps needs to be taken by the other scientists to strengthen the collaboration between India and Africa.
