Farmers Allege Environmental Damage: Kottur Municipal Administration Accused of Garbage Dumping

A formal petition, submitted by the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association to the Coimbatore District Collector's Office, detailed the municipality's disposal of waste in crucial agricultural and water areas, particularly near Kottur MalayandiPattinam and Madibhathi route in the Anaimalai area.


Coimbatore: In a concerning development, local farmers in Coimbatore have voiced their grievances against the Kotur Municipal Administration for the adverse effects on agriculture, water bodies, and livestock due to continuous garbage dumping.

A formal petition, submitted by the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association to the Coimbatore District Collector's Office, detailed the municipality's disposal of waste in crucial agricultural and water areas, particularly near Kottur MalayandiPattinam and Madibhathi route in the Anaimalai area.

Responding promptly, the District Revenue Officer conducted an immediate investigation, instructing an end to dumping activities. The municipal administration, however, has reportedly attempted to impede these directives by constructing cement structures, further heightening concerns among the local community.
