Gang Robs Elderly Woman at Thondamuthur

Posing as air-conditioner technicians, a gang of five robbed an 83-year-old woman at knifepoint on Kembanur Road in Thondamuthur in the late hours of Tuesday. The victim, Meenakshi, was a widow and cannot walk without assistance.

According to police sources, five persons went to her house and offered help to fix her faulty air-conditioner on Tuesday evening. While two of them stood guard outside the house, three others went inside. They threatened her at knifepoint and fled with a chain and bangles weighing seven-and-a-half sovereigns. The police have arrested two persons in connection with the case at Kanuvai on Wednesday morning.

They were identified as R. Sundar (21), a college student, and K. Rajaram (20), a plumber. A search is on for others.
