Sonia and Priyanka Ignore the Sacrifices of Tamil Nadu Congress Leaders, Vanathi Srinivasan Speaks Out

“In the Women’s Rights Convention organized by the DMK in Chennai, Sonia Gandhi, the former leader of the Congress party, and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is part of the ‘Indira’ group within the Congress, acknowledged the participation of prominent women leaders from Tamil Nadu and the Dravidian leaders.”

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu - In a recent statement made during a Women’s Rights Convention organized by the DMK in Chennai, Sonia Gandhi, former leader of the Indian National Congress (INC), and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, chose to overlook the contributions of prominent women leaders from the state. Vanathi Srinivasan, a senior BJP leader and former South Chennai MLA, expressed her disappointment.

“In the Women’s Rights Convention organized by the DMK in Chennai, Sonia Gandhi, the former leader of the Congress party, and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is part of the ‘Indira’ group within the Congress, acknowledged the participation of prominent women leaders from Tamil Nadu. However, their appreciation was limited to leaders like Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, Annadurai, Karunanidhi, and others. They failed to mention the significant contributions of Congress leaders,” Vanathi Srinivasan stated in her press release.

She further emphasized that the history of Tamil Nadu’s development and growth began with leaders like Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, dating back to 1967 when DMK first came to power. These leaders played a pivotal role in the state’s socio-economic progress. They were all associated with the Congress party and contributed significantly to Tamil Nadu’s growth. However, Sonia and Priyanka failed to recognize their contributions.
