Tragic Drowning of 5 Students in Valparai River Prompts Urgent Barricade Installation

Coimbatore: In a devastating incident, five students lost their lives after drowning in the Valparai River in Coimbatore district. The tragic event occurred when ten college students, who had come from Coimbatore town to visit Valparai, ventured into the river and were swept away.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of tourists and visitors to the Valparai Falls area. In response, Coimbatore district administration, under the supervision of former Municipal Commissioner Kozhi Kadai Ganesh, initiated the installation of barricades near the river to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.





The incident sparked discussions among officials, including District Collector Muthu Samy, who visited the site to assess the situation. The tragic loss of five young lives has prompted local authorities to take swift action.





Further discussions and safety measures are expected to be implemented in the Valparai Falls area to ensure the safety of tourists and prevent any future mishaps.
