Rice Mandi Owner Arrested for Sexually Harassing Girls near Annur

Five individuals, including Selvaganesh, a 51-year-old rice mandi owner, have been arrested in a case of sexual harassment involving two minor girls aged six and nine near Annur in Coimbatore district.


Coimbatore: Five individuals, including SelvaGanesh, a 51-year-old rice mandi owner, have been arrested in a case of sexual harassment involving two minor girls aged six and nine near Annur in Coimbatore district. The police acted swiftly following a complaint filed by the mother of one of the victims. The accused were charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and presented in court, where they were remanded to custody.

Following the mother’s complaint, a case was registered against Selvakaneesh at the Mettupalayam All-Women Police Station. Subsequent to his arrest, four other individuals from Ganesapuram and Kovilpalayam, who reportedly assaulted Selvakaneesh over the harassment allegations, were also apprehended and put behind bars after being produced in the Annur court.
