Coimbatore District Collector Announces Bank Loans for Adi Dravidars for Setting up Aavin Milk Parlors and Farmland Purchase

The Coimbatore Collector has announced a subsidized bank loan scheme for setting up Aavin milk parlors and purchasing agricultural land to boost the economic status of marginalized 200 Adi Dravidar and Tribal farmers.

In a significant development aimed at empowering the landless Adi Dravidar and Tribal agricultural laborers, the Coimbatore District Collector has announced a new initiative. This initiative will provide these communities with subsidized bank loans through the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) for the establishment of Aavin milk outlets and the purchase of agricultural lands.

The announcement outlines that through TAHDCO, the intended beneficiaries can obtain bank loans, accompanied by subsidies, to become sales agents for the Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation, set up Aavin milk booths, or purchase farmland. In an effort to promote economic advancement, the scheme offers a 50% subsidy on the land cost, further enabling economic growth for the disadvantaged groups.

This initiative aims to bolster the economic status of 200 landless Adi Dravidar and Tribal agricultural workers by providing them financial support to purchase agricultural land at a 50% subsidy on the price of the land. Additionally, 100 entrepreneurs from these communities will be facilitated to become sales agents and be given a grant of up to 30% or a maximum of Rs. 2.25 lakhs, while another 50 beneficiaries will be supported with equipment like freezers and coolers to set up Aavin milk outlets, with a subsidy of up to 30% or Rs. 2.25 lakhs. For Tribal entrepreneurs, the grant amount is raised to 50% of the project cost or Rs. 3.75 lakhs.

This program is part of a larger government effort to promote entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency among historically marginalized communities, providing them with a substantial opportunity to improve their economic conditions through sustainable business ventures.
