Kumaraguru College Triumphs in State-Level Basketball Tournament in Pollachi

Kumaraguru College from Coimbatore clinched the first prize in the 26th State-Level Thakur Cup Basketball Tournament, showcasing exceptional talent in Pollachi.


Coimbatore: The prestigious 26th State-Level Thakur Cup Basketball Tournament, held at the Pollachi Municipality Boys Higher Secondary School ground, concluded with Kumaraguru College from Coimbatore winning the first prize. The tournament, organized by the National Basketball Association, started on January 3rd and featured 24 teams from various districts including Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Erode.





Competing in a combination of knockout and league formats, the final games were intensely contested last night. Kumaraguru College stood out with their exceptional performance, securing victory after a series of challenging league matches. Following closely, Coimbatore United bagged the second prize, while Chennai's Sathyabama team and Dindigul's GTN team captured the third and fourth spots, respectively.

The event culminated with the distribution of cash prizes and trophies to the winning teams. This tournament has been a platform for showcasing the burgeoning basketball talent in Tamil Nadu and has greatly contributed to promoting the sport among the youth in the region.
