Transport Workers Strike in Coimbatore, Demanding Fulfillment of Seven Key Demands

Transport workers in Coimbatore have initiated an indefinite strike following unsuccessful talks with the government, emphasizing seven critical demands for their welfare.

Coimbatore: Transport workers, under the umbrella of the government transport union, have launched an indefinite strike starting yesterday. This action comes after the failure of negotiations with the government, where they emphasized seven key demands. As a part of this protest, members of the Anna Trade Union Federation and CIT Trade Union Federation gathered in front of the Gandhipuram bus station in Coimbatore today, raising slogans and participating in demonstrations to press for their demands. The protest caused significant disruption and drew considerable attention in the area.

The demands of the transport workers include various welfare measures and improvements in their working conditions. The strike has led to a substantial impact on public transport services, affecting daily commuters and the general public. The union leaders stated that the strike will continue until their demands are met.

The government and the transport department are yet to respond to the situation. This standoff between the transport workers and the government highlights the ongoing issues in the sector and the need for a swift resolution to minimize inconvenience to the public and address the workers' grievances.
