Samathuva Pongal Festival Celebrated at Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's Office

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan and other officials celebrated the Samathuva Pongal Festival, promoting gratitude towards nature and strengthening community bonds.


Coimbatore: In a vibrant celebration of the Samathuva Pongal Festival, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, along with other police officials, gathered at the Commissioner's office today. They celebrated the festival, donning traditional attire, with male officers in dhotis and female officers in sarees. Commissioner Balakrishnan addressed the media, emphasizing that the festival was celebrated to show gratitude towards the sun, farmers, and cattle. He also mentioned the sporting events organized in line with the festival.



Moreover, Balakrishnan informed that increased police patrols and security measures were being implemented in key areas like Cross Cut Road, Town Hall, and Bus Stations to manage the Pongal crowd. He further announced an upcoming cycle rally in Coimbatore aimed at 100% drug prevention, where youths aged 16 and above will participate to raise awareness against drug abuse.



This festival and the associated activities underscore the police department's efforts in community engagement and promoting social welfare in Coimbatore.
