At the DMK youth wing conference in Salem, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized the BJP's central government policies, highlighting Tamil Nadu's resistance to BJP's approach and predicting a shift in India's political landscape.
Salem: DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, speaking at the party's youth wing conference in Salem, declared that the people of Tamil Nadu have consistently opposed the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in past elections and will continue to do so. He anticipates this trend to influence the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, envisioning a loss for the BJP and a potential victory for the Opposition's INDIA bloc.
Stalin criticized the central government for undermining state rights, especially in areas of education and finance, through policies like NEET, GST, and the National Education Policy. He accused the BJP of using these policies to reduce states to mere financial extensions of the central government. Furthermore, Stalin pointed out the lack of central support for Tamil Nadu during natural disasters, attributing it to BJP's limited influence in the state.
The Chief Minister also accused the BJP of attempting to mislead Tamil Nadu voters by superficially engaging with local culture and traditions. He emphasized Tamil Nadu's deep-rooted values in the teachings of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, which he believes the BJP fails to understand.
Stalin further alleged that the BJP, utilizing its power at the Centre, has been breaking political parties, luring MLAs, and indirectly controlling states through Governors. He humorously remarked that the BJP's governors are sufficient to undermine the party's own position.
Addressing the DMK's commitment to social justice, equality, and state rights, Stalin warned of the BJP's alleged plans to erode regional languages, cultures, and state honors. He criticized the AIADMK, particularly targeting Edappadi K. Palaniswami for the party's governance in the past decade, suggesting AIADMK's actions are influenced by the BJP.
Towards the end of his speech, Stalin highlighted the DMK's preparations for the upcoming elections, including committee formations for seat-sharing and candidate selections. He confidently stated that only winnable candidates would be chosen. He also praised his son Udhayanidhi Stalin, the youth wing secretary, and Local Administration Minister K.N. Nehru for organizing the conference, which he described as "spectacular." The conference's success led many to see Udhayanidhi as a future leader in the party.
Udhayanidhi, in his speech, urged the party leader to assign more responsibilities to the youth wing, receiving strong support from the audience.
