Roadside Waste Causes Severe Eye Irritation for Drivers in Thudiyalur, Coimbatore

In Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, expired chili and masala powder packets, along with other waste, strewn along the road for about 200 meters, are causing severe eye irritation and discomfort to drivers.

Coimbatore: Drivers and residents near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, are facing severe eye irritation and discomfort due to expired chili and masala powder packets, along with other wastes, being dumped along the roadside. The issue is particularly severe in the Pannimadai section of Thudiyalur, where waste has been accumulating for a long period along a 200-meter stretch of road leading to a canal.

Despite signs placed by the Pannimadai Panchayat urging the public not to dump waste, the situation has not improved. The local administration has not taken steps to remove the garbage, which is now emitting a foul smell.

Recently, some individuals dumped expired chili and masala packets in the area. These packets have scattered on the road, and when vehicles drive over them, the contents spread, causing eye irritation to drivers. This issue has escalated to the point where it poses a significant risk of accidents due to the discomfort caused to drivers.

The area falls on the boundary between the Pannimadai Panchayat and Ward 1 of the Municipal Corporation, leading to a lack of action from both administrative bodies in clearing the waste. Residents express concerns over the potential health hazards due to the waste and the stray dogs that scatter garbage in front of homes, further exacerbating the situation.

The public and the Road Safety Association of Coimbatore District have called for immediate action from either the Panchayat or the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation to address the garbage disposal issue and prevent further accidents and health risks.
