Kumaraguru Institutions Hosts 6th Edition of Inspire India Youth Conclave on Mental Health

The 6th edition of the Inspire India Youth Conclave (IIYC) 2024, focusing on mental health, was held at Kumaraguru Institutions during Yugam 2024. The event featured over 18 speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and a mental health forum launch.


Coimbatore: The annual techno-cultural sports conclave, Yugam 2024, at Kumaraguru Institutions, was marked by the significant event of the 6th Inspire India Youth Conclave (IIYC) 2024, emphasizing the critical issue of mental health. Over 18 experts, professionals, and advocates in the field participated as speakers, offering a rich agenda that included four panel discussions, two monologues, two workshops, and a keynote address, providing a comprehensive examination of mental well-being.

The conclave delved into the importance of aligning one's endeavors with personal passions and a sense of purpose as key to nurturing mental resilience. This focus on passion and purpose as fundamental to combating stress and adversity highlighted a critical approach to fostering mental health.

Additionally, the event explored building mental resilience in high-pressure situations and addressed the influence of social media on public perceptions of mental health. Through discussions, participants looked into the media's role in shaping attitudes and the importance of promoting accurate and empathetic portrayals of mental health issues.

A significant highlight was the launch of a Student-led Mental Health Forum during the conclave, inaugurated by Lt Cdr Bijay G Nair, a Kargil War Veteran, Dr. K.Kiruthiga, Coimbatore District Psychiatrist, and Dr. K. Ramachandran, Director of the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (Retd). This initiative marks Kumaraguru's dedication to nurturing a supportive dialogue and network for mental well-being within its student body and the wider community, taking a proactive role in mental health advocacy.

IIYC 24 succeeded in providing a holistic perspective on mental health, equipping participants with valuable knowledge and tools to support their mental health journeys and fostering a more informed and supportive discourse on the subject.
