Dharapuram Municipality embarks on new development projects including a library building, stormwater drain, and water storage tank with a total investment of Rs. 55 lakh, initiated by Chairman Pappukannan.

Coimbatore: In a move to enhance local infrastructure and public services, the Dharapuram Municipality has launched several development projects totaling Rs. 55 lakh. The projects, which include the construction of a new library building, stormwater drainage, and a water storage tank, were officially commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Municipality Chairman Ku. Pappukannan.

These initiatives are set to improve the urban landscape of the Dharapuram area under the Municipality's jurisdiction. The foundation stone for a new digital library, costing Rs. 44 lakh, was laid in wards 4 and 7, aiming to provide residents with access to digital learning resources and literature. Additionally, a stormwater drainage system worth Rs. 7.5 lakh is to be established in the 2nd ward's Nanjiyampalayam Theru Puthur area to address the area's waterlogging issues during the rainy season. A water storage tank, valued at Rs. 3 lakh, is also part of the project, ensuring adequate water supply for the locality.

The event saw the participation of City Secretary S. Muruganantham, Deputy City Secretaries V. Kamalakannan and Celine Philomina, along with ward councilors Rasaththipandian, Mubarak Ali, administrative manager Ilai Mani, and several other municipal officials and local dignitaries. The concerted efforts by the municipality and its officials underscore the commitment to not only improving basic amenities but also to the overall development of the Dharapuram area.

The newly launched projects are a testament to the local government's dedication to fostering a more conducive living environment for its citizens through infrastructure development and enhanced public services.
