Prime Minister Narendra Modi Praises Coimbatore Student for Initiating Street Libraries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally commended a young student from Coimbatore for her efforts in establishing street libraries, further encouraging her initiative by gifting signed books.

Coimbatore: In a heartwarming gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally lauded the efforts of Akarshana, a 12-year-old student from Coimbatore, for her commendable initiative of setting up street libraries in the city. Akarshana, daughter of Sathishkumar, who is a CEO at a cancer detection device manufacturing company in Hyderabad, has taken upon herself to spread the joy of reading among the public.

Having already established around 10 libraries in different parts of the country including Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kanyakumari, and collecting approximately 7,000 books, Akarshana's project in Coimbatore boasts about 250 books. Her dedication to promoting literacy and education was previously acknowledged by Prime Minister Modi in his 105th 'Mann Ki Baat' episode.

On his visit to Coimbatore on March 18th, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to meet young Akarshana in person and commend her efforts. In addition to his words of appreciation, Modi presented her with two books signed by him as a token of encouragement. This gesture highlights the significance of grassroots initiatives in education and the support such efforts receive from the highest levels of government. Akarshana's story is an inspiring testament to the impact that individual contributions can make towards fostering a culture of reading and learning in the community.
