Coimbatore Witnesses Novel Election Nominations by Independent Candidates

In a vibrant display of electoral enthusiasm, Coimbatore's independent candidates, including the city's 'election king' Noor Mohamed, have filed their nominations for the parliamentary elections using novel stunts to capture public attention.

Coimbatore: As Tamil Nadu readies for the parliamentary elections, independent candidates in Coimbatore have been drawing attention with their unique approaches to filing nominations.

Leading the pack, Noor Mohamed, knows as the city's 'election king' for his history of eye-catching campaign tactics, has once again made headlines. This year, donning a chilli garland and holding a begging bowl, he aimed to highlight the plight of voters swayed by corrupt practices.

However, he faced a brief hiccup with the authorities over his choice of garland, seen as a breach of electoral conduct, before proceeding to file his nomination.

Another candidate making waves is Duraisamy from Selvapuram, who chose to express his electoral ambitions through song and dance, dedicating performances to Lord Muruga as he submitted his candidacy for the Coimbatore parliamentary constituency.

These unique approaches are not just personal statements but are intended to draw public attention to the larger narrative of political accountability and voter awareness.

Both candidates have officially entered the race, submitting their papers to District Collector and Election Officer Kranthi Kumar Padi.

With the deadline for nominations set for March 27, more creative displays from both independent and party-affiliated candidates are anticipated.
