Kumaraguru Institutions Inaugurates Classical Music Forum 'Tharangam' Featuring Sikkil Gurucharan

The Kumaraguru Institutions launched the Classical Music Forum "Tharangam" with a captivating performance by Carnatic Vocalist Sikkil Gurucharan on March 28, 2024, aiming to celebrate and nurture Indian classical music heritage.


Coimbatore: On March 28, 2024, Kumaraguru Institutions marked a significant milestone in the cultural landscape by launching the Classical Music Forum "Tharangam" with a spectacular performance by renowned Carnatic vocalist Sikkil Gurucharan.



The event, dedicated to celebrating the rich tradition of Indian classical music, witnessed the gathering of music enthusiasts eager to embark on a melodious journey.


The inauguration of Tharangam aims to provide a nurturing platform for emerging talents and seasoned artists to explore the intricacies of Indian classical music. The evening began with the Kumaraguru students showcasing their musical prowess, setting a serene ambiance for what was to be an unforgettable experience.


The ceremony reached its zenith with Sikkil Gurucharan's performance, whose masterful renditions left the audience in awe. The launch was further graced by Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent of Kumaraguru Institutions, and Shri Sikkil Gurucharan, who together unveiled the Tharangam logo, symbolizing the forum's commitment to the arts.


Tharangam, in collaboration with Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts, is set to offer comprehensive courses in Carnatic vocals, violin, and percussion – Mirudhangam, starting June 2024. These 30-hour certificate programs each semester are aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of classical music among students and the wider community.


Through a blend of concerts, workshops, masterclasses, and more, Tharangam aspires to ignite a passion for classical music and ensure its legacy thrives for generations to come. This initiative by Kumaraguru Institutions promises to be a beacon for those seeking solace and inspiration in the timeless beauty of Indian classical music.
