Herd of Elephants Spotted Drinking from Water Tank Amid Scorching Heat in Coimbatore

Amid rising temperatures surpassing 100°F in Coimbatore, a herd of over ten wild elephants was recently filmed drinking together from a communal water tank near Moolakadu, stirring significant online attention.

Coimbatore: As the summer heat intensifies in Tamil Nadu, affecting water bodies and leading to a decrease in water availability, wildlife starts venturing out from forests in search of water. In Coimbatore, where temperatures have soared past 100°F, the situation has become dire for many animals.

Recently, villagers near Moolakadu in Veerapandipudur, residing at the fringes of the forest, have taken it upon themselves to fill a large water tank to help thirsty wildlife and birds. Last evening, an awe-inspiring scene unfolded at this very spot as over ten wild elephants, including calves, converged on the tank. Together, they were seen quenching their thirst in unison.

This rare and heartwarming sight was captured on video by a local resident and has since gone viral on social media, showcasing the community's efforts to coexist with and support the local wildlife in these challenging times.
