Juvenile Detention Incident: Attempted Suicide of a Teenager in Coimbatore

A teenager attempted suicide by consuming soap oil at a juvenile detention center in Coimbatore. He was rescued and is currently recovering at a government hospital.


Coimbatore: In a distressing incident, a 17-year-old boy attempted suicide by consuming soap oil last night (May 13). The incident occurred at a juvenile detention center in the Lakshmi Mills area of Coimbatore. Authorities responded promptly, rescuing the teenager and admitting him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.









Following his rescue, the boy has received medical care and is reportedly in stable condition now. The police are currently investigating the circumstances leading to this suicide attempt. This incident has drawn attention to the conditions and mental health support available in juvenile detention facilities.
