Coimbatore: As of 15th May 2024, water level and rainfall status of various dams in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts were reported by the authorities. In Coimbatore District, the Sholaiyar Dam water level stands at 06.78 out of 160 feet, with a discharge of 124.62 cusecs and an outflow of 20 cusecs. Rainfall recorded was 8mm. Similarly, Parambikulam Dam's water level was at 10.25 feet out of 72, with a higher discharge of 180 cusecs and an outflow of 37 cusecs, accompanied by 38mm of rainfall.

Azhiviar Dam presented a water level of 68.80 feet out of a total capacity of 120 feet. It showed a significant discharge of 358 cusecs and an outflow rate of 42 cusecs with 33mm of rainfall.

Moving to Tiruppur District, the status of dams such as Thirumurthy and Amaravathi were detailed. Thirumurthy Dam had a water level of 20.62 feet out of 60, a relatively low water discharge of 12 cusecs, and an outflow of 26 cusecs; rainfall was measured at 5mm. In Amaravathi Dam, the water level was at 39.44 feet out of 90, with water discharge of 49 cusecs and an outflow of 18 cusecs. The region received varied rainfall, significantly affecting dam water levels and reservoir inflows.

Detailed are the rainfall measurements in surrounding regions like Valparai at 34mm, and significantly high at 73mm in Negamam, and other key locations listed contributing to varied inflows and reservoir capacities.
