YouTuber Felix Gerald Detained Until May 31 for Defaming Women Police Officers

Coimbatore court orders detention of YouTuber Felix Gerald for defamatory remarks against women police officers, following controversial statements made online.

Coimbatore: In a significant development, Coimbatore Criminal Court Judge VL Santhosh has ordered the imprisonment of YouTuber Felix Gerald until May 31, for allegedly making derogatory comments about women police officers. Felix Gerald, who runs a digital media agency named Red Pix, was earlier brought to the attention of the courts following a video interview with controversial figure Saukku Shankar, published without moderation on his YouTube channel.

In the interview, Saukku Shankar was recorded making contentious statements about women police officers, leading to a police complaint against him and Gerald. Additional cases against Saukku Shankar have also been registered in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Currently placed in Tiruchirapalli's Lalgudi prison, Shankar was cited in the same cases that led to the summoning of Gerald in Coimbatore’s Criminal Court where Judge VL Santhosh passed the directed ruling.

Following his court appearance, Felix Gerald was remanded in judicial custody at Coimbatore Central Prison under tight security facilitated by women police officers. This legal measure underscores the serious stance the judiciary and law enforcement are taking against defamation and the protection of the dignity of police personnel.
